HK overtakes Switzerland as the world’s wealth hub: It is now the largest cross-border wealth-management center, with 60% of flows originating in mainland China.

Emerging markets are outperforming the S&P 500: The MSCI Emerging Markets index is up 48%, and its equal-weighted counterpart is up 33% over the past year, both outpacing the US benchmark.

US food prices are re-accelerating: Grocery prices are up 32% since Jan 2020, with April’s +0.7% monthly jump the largest since Aug 2022. Coffee is up 133% over the same period, and beef prices have hit record highs.

The CPI for food at home jumped +0.7% MoM in April, the largest monthly increase since August 2022, pushing the YoY rate to +2.9%, the highest since August 2023.
